Skilled Nursing FAQ
Per Medicare, skilled nursing is provided within “a nursing facility with the staff and equipment to give skilled nursing care and, in most cases, skilled rehabilitative services and other related health services.” Skilled nursing care occurs within Medicare-certified skilled nursing facilities. Two of three Valley Senior Living locations offer skilled nursing care, Woodside Village at Valley on 42nd and Valley on Columbia. Common care needs that qualify a resident for skilled nursing care include assistance with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, toileting, medication management, health assessments, PT/OT and speech language pathology services, pain management, skin integrity and wound care needs. Valley Senior Living strives to provide the highest quality resident-centered care while keeping in accordance with all state and federal guidelines.

Our dedicated team of direct caregivers, care coordinators, social workers, dieticians, physicians, support staff, and administration value loved ones’ input and participation in resident care. Through this input and collaboration with loved ones, we are able to personalize a care plan that best fits the resident’s needs and well-being.
Everyone’s number one question when searching for care is usually “how much is this going to cost?” Knowing how much the facility will cost and if your insurance is accepted will most likely be a big factor when deciding which facility you choose for your loved one. Most providers accept Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, private pay, and some private long-term insurance plans. It is always important to understand your payment options prior to moving in. Please consult with the admissions team and business office to determine cost, insurance options, room type, and availability.
A typical day of care entails caring for the physical, mental, and social well-being of every resident. Having 24-hour assistance with activities of daily living such as medication management, assistance with basic-to-complex personal cares, dietary management, and three nutritious meals per day help residents maximize their quality of life with our resident-centered care philosophy. This, along with opportunities for life-enriching activities throughout the day and growing meaningful relationships with fellow residents and staff, provides a home-like atmosphere at Valley Senior Living.
Valley Senior Living stays in regular communication with family and loved ones about resident’s well-being, changes, and needs. The care coordination team is ready and willing to answer questions and the facility administration communicates care community updates on an every-other-week basis or more frequently in the event of operational changes.
At Valley Senior Living we focus on meaningful activity and spontaneity, to avoid loneliness and boredom.
