Country Estates FAQ

Country Estates is a popular housing choice for active seniors, with many residents living there for years. The beautiful and spacious apartments, complete with full-size appliances—including washer and dryer in the apartment—are valued. In addition, the fellowship of fellow seniors is appreciated, particularly in the cold winter months.

Nursing services are not provided by Valley staff at Country Estates, although residents can contract with outside home care agencies for scheduled nursing services. At Country Estates, residents enjoy the option of the hot, noon meal served in the beautiful dining room for an additional cost. Residents appreciate transportation to scheduled medical appointments in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, as well as weekly shopping transportation to select stores. Valley Senior Living also provides Country Estates residents with a monthly blood pressure clinic.

No, Country Estates offers independent living for seniors with beautiful common amenities. Nursing services at Valley Senior Living on 42nd are only offered within assisted living at Wheatland Terrace or skilled nursing at Woodside Village. You may contract with any outside agency for a medical alert pendant if desired.

Country Estates residents can enjoy the Myra Café, offering fresh salads, sandwiches and snacks each day of the week. Hot meals at reasonable prices are available at the Café for residents and their guests Monday through Friday. We offer an exercise room and library at Country Estates, as well as a gaming room, OT/PT room, auditorium and more.

Valley’s location on 42nd Street (south of the Alerus Center) offers a full continuum of care. Many of our residents enjoy the fact that, if their spouse needs a higher level of care than they do, that the couple can live separately but under the same roof. So, one spouse might choose an independent apartment at Country Estates while their spouse lives at Hearthstone just a short walk away without ever having to go outside. The spouses can still enjoy time together, while allowing the independent person to just enjoy the time spent with their spouse instead of having to serve as a caregiver for complex needs.

Country Estates is a private-pay community. For those approved for North Dakota Medicaid, Valley Senior Living’s Tufte Manor offers rooms at a basic care level. See Tufte Manor FAQ for more information.
